Little Concerts Presents: Sandy Johnson

Event Date: Mar 9, 2018

In true Alberta form, Sandy Johnson shares her love of country music with us on March 9, 2018.

Though Sandy didn’t realize it at the time, her love for country music started when she was a kid listening to her dad play the old-timey songs on the banjo and the fiddle in their small prairie town.  When they got a record player the likes of Patsy Cline, Hank Snow and Marty Robbins filled their home with even more music.  In her teens and early adult life, Patsy, George, Jim and others took a back seat to the likes of The Eagles and the Rolling Stones, but her classic country roots had taken hold and would continue to influence her musical tastes as time marched on.

It wasn’t until well into her adulthood that Sandy was reminded of just how deep the classic country roots had taken hold.  Through the kindness, generosity and patience of her music teachers and like-minded musicians, sheI was able to find her voice, and when it did, it came out classic country.

Sandy has recently released a CD of classic country songs entitled Hallelujah for Classic Country.
