VOLUNTEERING |
Volunteer Opportunities
The Fort Calgary Preservation Society is implementing a re-development plan, which will animate the entire site and position Fort Calgary as a premier heritage venue. By creating thoroughly researched exhibits and programs, visitors will be encouraged to become involved in the process of discovering the social and cultural history of Calgary including the stories and accomplishments of several generations.
Volunteer support ensures that Fort Calgary's vision of "sharing our history, building our community" is met through our exhibits and programs. The Board and staff at Fort Calgary acknowledge the vital role that volunteers play and our goal is to offer meaningful volunteer opportunities. We would like to thank all volunteers who generously support our efforts and encourage others to become involved. Volunteer opportunities vary according to the time of year and our current volunteer positions are listed below. All new volunteers receive an introduction to the history of Calgary, mentoring and individual training for specific positions. Volunteer benefits include: experience in a museum environment, opportunity to acquire historical knowledge, socialization and interaction with the public.
For more information on our volunteer programs call the Volunteer Resource Coordinator at 290-1875 ext. 229. You can also check the job descriptions that are included with our list of current volunteer opportunities.
